All the thrill of the hunt… marine-style.
The marine sport of spearfishing evolved as a natural progression
of scuba diving. Spearfishers coming to the Forgotten Coast
pit their wits against some of the Gulf’s wiliest prize
fish including amberjack, grouper, flounder, cobia and snapper.
Ecologically speaking, spearfishing allows you to hunt the fish
you want without harming other species. And from the sporting
perspective, there’s nothing to compare with the thrill
of the hunt and the skill of the hunter.
Spear fishers use either spearguns or pole spears to pursue
their sport. Daly’s carries a full range of aluminum and
wooden guns by the leading spearfishing manufacturers, Riffe
and JBL as well as wooden slings, speartips,
accessories and travel equipment.
Local spearfishing enthusiasts highly recommend the annual Panama
City Open Spearfishing Tournament, now in its 35th year. This
event is hosted by the Tyndall AFB Marina Club and wraps with
a Fish Fry that you won’t want to miss. If you plan to
be in the area the third weekend in June, ask for details at
Daly’s.
Spearfishing requires a fishing license, which Daly’s
will be happy to arrange.
